Murdered Yonkers mom remembered by loved ones
Friends and family are remembering Maria Montalvo Girau, a 46-year-old Yonkers mother of four, who was murdered Friday.
Police say Girau?s estranged husband, Mario Girau, is considered a person of interest but has not been charged with any crime. An Amber Alert was issued for Girau?s 6-year-old son after police arrived on the scene and learned he was missing.
The boy was found a short time later with his stepfather, 69-year-old Mario Girau. The two had gotten into a car accident in the Bronx.
Maria Girau worked at the Guild Home for the Aged Blind in Yonkers as a certified nursing assistant. Her co-worker, Joan Clark, says she?ll be remembered as someone who was tough on the outside, but had a warm heart.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
