It looks like there will be a Democratic primary election for the Westchester District Attorney's Office six months from now.

Former assistant U.S. attorney, affiliate with Pace University Law School and MSNBC legal analyst Mimi Rocah announced her candidacy on Wednesday.
Rocah says her campaign will center on addressing the opioid epidemic, preventing gun violence and combating sex trafficking.
She says there is a long way to go, but believes she can do a better job than the current administration.
Her career included prosecuting the Genovese crime family.
"People don't necessarily know that the mob, particularly during the time I was working on it around 10 years ago, was alive and well in Westchester County," she says.

Incumbent Democrat Anthony Scarpino is finishing his first term as the county's top law enforcement officer, focusing his first three years improving school safety, battling the opioid crisis and finding ways to end gun violence.
"It's the American way. I welcome the challenge and I'm very proud of the record I've had," he says.
Scarpino says his record speaks for itself like beginning to implement the state's mandated discovery and bail laws before they take effect next year.

Rocah says she would look to balance community safety with upcoming bail reform.
