The group Mott Haven Families is demanding a transparent investigation into the response to protests there back on June 4.
They say the NYPD violently responded to peaceful Black Lives Matters demonstrators at the time.
The group says it has been protesting at the 40th Precinct every Sunday since June 4 because they want to know specifically who is responsible.
Calling it a brutal assault, they've now released an open letter demanding that the specific individuals who carried out and planned the response by the NYPD be fired or forced to resign.
An 8 p.m. curfew was set by the city that night, but demonstrators say before that time, police in riot gear blocked off the march near the corner of East 136th Street and Brook Avenue surrounding them. They say that minutes after the curfew, police stormed in making arrests.
On Sunday, the group marched from that corner to the 40th Precinct. They say they do not want that night to be forgotten and have created a petition in the hope of receiving 5,000 signatures of Mott Haven residents to create accountability of those involved.
On Thursday, Attorney General Letitia James sued the NYPD, saying the rough treatment of protesters is a result of a longstanding pattern of abuse stemming from poor training, supervision and discipline.
