Rockland residents and local and state lawmakers are raising major concerns about the crumbling overpasses along the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Rabbi Paul Kurkland, of the Nanuet Hebrew Center, says they are most concerned by the overpass at Exit 10, which he frequently uses.
Only one of the sidewalks is functional - the other is shut down.  The facade is also crumbling.  The entire overpass has been in a state of disrepair since 2017.
“I’m very concerned every time myself, my family or other congregants have to walk across the bridge,” he says. “This is what residents have been living with for 2 ½ years. It’s time to get this project up and running,” he says.
Lawmakers blame the state Department of Transportation and the Palisades Interstate Commission. They say they started the project - and then abandoned it.
Residents say they avoid it when and if they can. Local officials are demanding the state address the infrastructure issue as soon as possible.
