Seeing a pope in person comes once in a lifetime for many people, but history is about to repeat itself in Yonkers.

Pope Benedict XVI will visit St. Joseph?s Seminary to meet with residents on April 19 before celebrating Mass at Yankee Stadium. This is not the first time a pope has visited the city, and it is not the first time Pope Benedict IVX has visited the seminary.

In 1995, crowds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the late Pope John Paul II. Pope Benedict also visited the seminary several times, beginning in 1988, when he was still a cardinal. During one of his visits, the pope signed copies of his books for seminarians.

Priests say having a pope back on seminary grounds is meant to be an inspiration.

The stop in Yonkers is part of a United States tour. Other stops include a visit to Ground Zero and Washington, D.C. While in the states, Pope Benedict will celebrate his 81st birthday and his third anniversary as pope.
