Grief-stricken mom lashes out at D.A. DiFiore
A grief-stricken mother accused Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore Monday of avoiding tough questions about the prosecution of her daughter's alleged killer.
DiFiore made the opening remarks Monday at the first meeting of a new anti-violence program and quickly left the Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers. The move infuriated Cindi Brink.
"Why won't she answer our questions?" said Brink, who brought the meeting to a halt. "She knew we were coming. We called her. We told her office we were coming and she ran out of the door."
Officials eventually asked Brink to leave.
Brink's 12-year-old daughter, Dana Regan, died of a methadone overdose in March. Brink claims three teen boys slipped Regan the drug during a rape attempt.
Anthony Brown, 15, is charged with criminally negligent homicide and other felonies. However, he's being tried as a juvenile. Brink is outraged that Brown isn't being tried as an adult.DiFiore responded Tuesday to Brink's claims, saying she's explained the matter. According to DiFiore, the situation is out of her hands due to Brown's age.
