Diane Steinberg lost her son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren in a Costa Rica plane crash Sunday and says the Scarsdale family’s love for travel had been what kept them bonded.
Bruce and Irene Steinberg and their children Zachary, William and Matthew were among 12 people killed when a charter aircraft crashed Sunday in Costa Rica.
Diane Steinberg, mother of Bruce, says they were on a biking trip.
"They were your ideal family. They really were,” she says.
Just two weeks ago, Diane Steinberg says she was celebrating Bruce's 50th birthday and her eldest grandson’s 20th birthday. She spoke exclusively to News 12 by phone from Florida one day before her flight to New York to make funeral arrangements for the Scarsdale family.
She says she is not yet used to them being gone. She still boasts about her son being a hedge fund manager and says her three grandsons were all high-achievers ready to make their mark.
Diane Steinberg says the family was a big part of their Scarsdale community and that they attended weekly services at the Westchester Reform Temple. She says just about everyone knew them.
A family member tells News 12 that services for the family will be held Sunday at the Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale.
