A Tarrytown firefighter battling brain cancer may soon be able to check off one item from his bucket list.
It was a few weeks ago after his grandson's christening that Bill Duggan's life forever changed. The 59-year-old had a massive headache and was rushed to the hospital.
Two days later the firefighter of more than 40 years underwent surgery to remove a mass. Doctors removed most of the stage 4 cancer, but not all of it.
They gave Duggan two to three years to live.
"I won't give up. I'm gonna beat this," he told News 12
The diagnosis prompted his friend Michael Chillemi to make a bucket list wish come for the diehard New England Patriots fan. Chillemi started a GoFundMe page to raise enough money to send Bill and his best friend to Super Bowl LII in Minnesota.
"At first, Bill was a little hesitant about it, because he felt bad asking people to help him. But he's been helping people his whole life, so we thought it would be a great way to give back," said Chillemi.
The goal is to raise $20,000 send Duggan and his best friend to the Super Bowl. So far, the fundraiser has accumulated $9,000.
