Saint Philip Church in Norwalk hosted Food Fast 2020 on Saturday to raise awareness for world hunger.

Pastor Sudhir Dsouza says the parish has been advocates of the cause for more than 18 years.

He says fasting for 24 hours makes the cause more real for those who participate.

"If you are just speaking about it, they won't realize. But being hungry, then they know the pain of the others of people of their own age all over the world," says Dsouza.

Money raised from the event is benefiting the Catholic Relief Service Program, which provides aid to those in need overseas.
