A father says police would not help in his efforts to get his 2-year-old daughter back from her mother - one day before the child was found dead.
Police released recordings Thursday of Stephen Boyd phoning Mamaroneck Village police on April 28 to get back his daughter from her mom. Boyd says the officers wouldn't execute a court order to give him custody of his little girl.
"I'm supposed to get visitation today. I have weekend visitation. Her mother did not drop her off to her house in New Rochelle like she was supposed to,” said Boyd on the recordings.
Boyd made three calls to village police that day asking for help in getting Gabriella Maria back. This included one call that said her mother was going to be at an Urgent Care on Post Road and that Boyd was willing to go there with police with the proper paperwork so he could get his daughter.
According to Boyd, Mamaroneck police told him that they couldn’t assist him and that it was more of a civil matter.
Boyd said he reminded police that he had a court order, but police still said no.
About 75 minutes after that phone call, Gabriella's grandmother called 911 from 507 Chestnut Ave. where police found Gabriella unresponsive. Her 28-year-old mother, Cynthia Arce, then allegedly attacked two police officers prompting a third officer to shoot and injure her.
Boyd knew nothing about his daughter’s death when he called police one more time that day to return a detective's phone call.
