Cops: Taconic driver was drunk, impaired by drugs
State police investigators revealed Tuesday that Diane Schuler, the driver in the fatal Taconic State Parkway crash, had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit and had high levels of marijuana in her system.
The toxicology report shows that Schuler had a blood alcohol level of .19 and high levels of THC in her blood, contradicting what investigators had originally thought. In addition, investigators revealed Schuler still had alcohol in her stomach.
Police also say they found a broken bottle of vodka in the car.
Schuler, her 2-year-old daughter and three nieces died when police say she drove the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway on July 26. Three other men in another vehicle also died as a result of the accident. Schuler's 5-year-old son survived.
