Police are investigating possible gang ties in a fatal shooting that took place over the weekend in Greenburgh.
Police say 31-year-old Kenyatta Parks was shot to death by a man who had problems with him in the past. Parks was shot in the head just 100 yards from his parents' home Sunday.
Sources tell News 12 Westchester both the shooter and the victim are members of the notorious Bloods street gang. Parks? parents deny their son was involved in gangs. Family and friends say although Parks twice served time in prison, he was trying to straighten out his life and care for his 2-year-old son.
George Abrams coaches basketball to kids at the Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers. Abrams remembers coaching Parks when he was growing up. He says Parks was very respectful, but struggled with growing up in a neighborhood that had gangs. Parks most recently worked as a trainer at a sports club in Yonkers. He even tried to get a job at the community center, according to Abrams. So far, no arrests have been made in the shooting.
