Clinton campaigns in hopes for another primary win
Sen. Hillary Clinton continued campaigning on Monday, this time in West Virginia, in hoping to win another primary.
West Virginia voters will head to the polls Tuesday to have their say in the battle between Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama. Obama is ahead of Clinton in the delegate count and popular vote?and this weekend, he erased Clinton?s superdelegate lead as well. However, the latest polls in West Virginia show that Clinton is the choice of 60 percent of the state?s registered Democrats.
Even though the odds are in Clinton?s favor for Tuesday?s primaries, no victory can change the primary math. Obama?s leads may make it difficult for Clinton to ever catch up?but supporters of New York?s senator are urging her to not give up.
?I see the numbers the same as you see them,? Gov. Joe Manchin says, ?and it looks like [Obama] has done quite well, but it?s not over until it?s over.?
On May 20, Clinton is also expected to win in Kentucky, one of the last primary races left. Clinton hopes to send a message to the superdelegates?she scores best with working-class voters. Still, it is unsure if Clinton can pull ahead, even with wins in West Virginia and Kentucky.
Regardless, Clinton plans on sticking it out until the end. ?A woman is like a tea bag,? she says, quoting Eleanor Roosevelt. ?You never know how strong she is until she is in hot water.?
