New Rochelle city hall reopened to the public today for the first time since the pandemic started.
The city saw some of the nation’s first cases a few months ago and was labeled the original epicenter of the outbreak in the state.
City officials say they have made some changes to city hall to keep workers and the public safe.
Building admission is through the rear parking lot entrance only,  the front door will remain closed. When you arrived you must provide your phone number and email address for the purposes of contact tracing. Masks or face coverings must be worn while in the building and social distancing must be observed.
"We've been in it for 3-1/2 months now, and it's nice to get back to some sense of normalcy. I don't think we'll be back to full normalcy for a while, but this at least gives people an opportunity to come to city hall, which is the people's building,” says New Rochelle City Manager Charles Strome III.
Officials also point out that if you still don't feel ready to venture out, many services are available online.
