Christie denies accounts in Woodward’s Trump book
Former Gov. Chris Christie is on the attack against journalist Bob Woodward and his new book “Fear: Trump in the White House.”
Woodward claims in the book that President Donald Trump considered Christie to be a “jinx” to his campaign and accused him of stealing while raising money for the transition team.
Christie denies these claims and called Woodward a “stenographer” for former Trump official Steve Bannon.
"To be clear, a number of the statements attributed to me and from others to me in the Woodward book are incorrect. I would have been happy to correct them if Mr. Woodward or any member of his staff would have called me, as a person they were quoting, for standard fact checking,” Christie said on Twitter.
Woodward also claims in the book that former Trump economic adviser Gary Cohn once removed a document from the president's desk that would have ended a trade deal with South Korea.
Former White House staff secretary Rob Porter says that Woodward offers a "selective and often misleading portrait" of the president and his administration.
Woodward’s book went on sale Tuesday and was No. 1 on the top 10 list for Apple’s iBooks.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
