A double amputee from Bloomfield is trying to make U.S. history in a marathon.
Brian Reynolds, 30, says he's always been motivated by a challenge.
Reynolds trains every day, sometimes at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, although usually its way before the sun rises around 4 a.m.
Reynolds also has a wife and two kids.
At 4 years old growing up around Boston, Reynolds contracted a deadly bacterial infection.
Doctors had to amputate his legs, below the knee, to save him, but he never let his disability hold him back.
He played baseball, went horseback riding, and in college, he took up powerlifting.
Running was never his passion, but a marathon was always on his bucket list.
The most he ever ran was four miles before his first one back in 2014, only 15 percent of the distance of a marathon.
Reynolds has only been competing in marathons for two years, and already he's chasing an American record for a double amputee.
He trying to complete the race during competition in under three hours.
