Block party, sweet 16 crowds clash in Ossining melee
Hundreds of people from an Ossining block party and sweet 16 party started a large melee, causing chaos for cops Saturday.
Police say the block party on Broad Street attracted a large crowd of teenagers and adults who left alcohol and trash on the streets. They say the group decided to attend a sweet 16 party at the Moose Lodge Inn after the block party ended around 11 p.m.Witnesses say some of the people crashed the sweet 16, causing a fight to start and more than 600 teens to spill out into the streets.
Hundreds of police officers from Ossining and around the county, plus K-9 units and a helicopter, were brought in. It took authorities about two hours to bring the crowd under control.
Several teenagers where brought in for questioning, but no arrests were made. Police say no one was injured in the fighting.
