Dozens of veterans in Bay Ridge came together Friday commemorating the Pearl Harbor tragedy.

Close to 2,400 Americans were killed during the bombing in Hawaii when Japan launched a surprise attack on the United States. It was an act of belligerence that sparked American entry into World War II 77 years ago.

Veterans and their families in Brooklyn came to Pier 69, also known as American Veterans Memorial Pier, to remember that fateful morning. The group read narratives about the war, played out reenactments to honor the sailors and airmen who lost their lives and placed a memorial wreath into the water.

The Bay Ridge memorial happens every year on Dec.7 to pay homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
