Authorities have charged two people with animal cruelty after nearly 200 dogs were found inside a home in Hunterdon County.

The county prosecutor says that Martin Strozeski and Marcia Knoster are now facing charges.

Authorities were called to the Kingwood Township Home June 11 for reports of animals living in squalor. They say that they found over 180 dogs inside the home, along with 22 dead dogs in the home’s freezer. The animals seemed to have had limited human contact and minimal to no veterinary care. Many of the dogs were pregnant and/or had "masses and infections,” according to officials.

The dogs were taken to Saint Hubert's Animal Welfare Center and the Monmouth County SPCA for treatment. They will eventually be put up for adoption.

The New York Times has reported that one of Knoster’s dogs took the "Best in Breed" title at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show back in 2009.
