Well, from horseback riding to mountain tubing and more, we are taking you to a family favorite memory maker, news styles. Nikita Ramos shows us around in this week's road trip. Close to home. It's like a vacation to the wild west, but make it a road trip close to home where the entire family can get in on the fun right here in the heart of the Hudson Valley rocking Horse Ranch Resort stretches as far as 500 bucolic acres in Highland. It's an all inclusive stay meant to create core memories. There's something for every age and interest who would just so pleasantly surprise. There's so many things to do here like tractor drawn wagon rides, archery and more. There's even something for those who like to stick to the thrills bungee jumping back on that. Open year round. This is a one stop shop for all of your family adventures that will likely take a few visits to try it all. They have so many other things that we didn't even get a chance to do. The Village of Patch has something for the whole entire family from pinball to LA music. And of course the good food. Our Shannon Lanier takes us there in this week's road trip. Close to home. The Village of Patch Hog on the south shore of Long Island is a great destination for a family road trip. So we took the little ones to check it out. As soon as we hit the strip, we saw tons of places to eat shop and have fun. But of course, the kids wanted to start with Pinball, Long Island over 100 vintage teen bar seeds. Like when my dad was a teenager, I'm not that old. What if you like live performances, come to pat talk theater where you can watch awesome concerts. I all that makes me hungry. There are tons of different cuisines to choose from, but we're in the mood for barbecue. So we're going to barbecue. Here is the combo. Wow, the Bobby burger is bigger than my head. Boy, I am stuck. I know. Right. So let's go burn off those calories shore. Front park is a beautiful place along the water that has a playground. Boat dock, outdoor activities and a ferry to Fire Island. Whatever you decide to do, you'll love your time in patch hog with the Lanier family on this road trip. Close to home, looks like they had fun. The Gilmore girls has delighted fans for nearly 25 years. And the town that inspired the Cher Show is right here in the Nutmeg State in this week's road trip. Close to home news, 12 photojournalist, Laurie Goliath takes us to the town that inspired stars. Hollow Connecticut. Washington is a quintessential small New England town. We're here at the Mayflower Inn and Spa because this is where Amy Sherman Palladino stayed and got the inspiration for the show. I think when the show was written and she was here in the Depot, she just saw so many great things that she could add to the Gilmore Girls to get a real feel for the town of Washington, which was the inspiration. You can come into Washington Depot and visit the spots that uh the characters were associated with. You can go to the bookstore, hickory Stick Bookshop. It is a staple. The store has been here in Washington for over 70 years. We see people every single day. I mean, it's wonderful. Uh We love the conversations that we have with people. They come from far and wide and it's fun. We're in the Washington Supply. It's been in business since 1893. So about 100 and 31 years and you could get pretty much everything you need here, you know, a Gilmore Girl fan when you see one, you know, it's, it's kind of cool and they've come from all over the world to make a memory because of the show, which is amazing as you are visiting Washington, you certainly need to make sure that you're getting a cup of coffee following in the steps of Lorelai and Rory. We're at the PO Cafe in Washington, Connecticut on the show, everyone's drinking coffee all the time at Luke Steiner and elsewhere. And we're happy to have Connecticut roasted coffee right here at the P We love to welcome the fans, we love the energy that they bring and we try to offer, you know, some things on our menu that are snippets from the show. The character of, of Washington is what really inspired Amy when she was writing the show, she obviously loved the town and wrote a great story. You know, that's now almost 25 years old and is still loved. If you want to experience Stars Hollow and you're a Gilmore Girls fan, there isn't any other place besides Washington. Broken glass is often a sign to be careful. But at this art studio in Morris County, it's a sign of creativity. News from New Jersey's Amanda Eustace takes us there in this week's road trip close to home. Hi, Amanda. Hello. What are we doing here today? Uh Well, welcome to Glass works. My name is Sherry and Glass Works is a glass fusing studio. First thing you're gonna do is pick the project you wanna make. I think we'll do the picture frame. All right. Sounds good. Let's get you started. So, at the studio we have two basic types of glass, opaque and translucent. It's just glass you can see through and glass. You can't. Now it's time to get creative and pick out exactly what type of glass we wanna use with our design, chosen, our glass picked out. Now it's time to get to work. Everything that you're doing is at room temperature, so it's not glass blowing. Uh So you're just handling and we have lots of stuff that's safe for kids. I don't even know where to begin laying this stuff out. Really? The only limit is your imagination. I'm gonna come back here with a vision the next time you don't wanna make it perfect. What you're here to do is make, make something handmade and personalized. It's really starting to take shape. Hey, so Amanda, that looks pretty good. Yeah. All good. I think, I think we're, we're happy with the final product. Yeah, I think that looks amazing. Um, now that you're all done, I'll take it over to the kiln room and we'll send you a text message when it's ready. Usually takes about a week. So it's been about a week since the last time. We were here at Glassworks Crafting Studio in Morristown and we're here to pick up our project. I couldn't wait. I got so excited. I had to pull my beautiful picture frame out. Looks gorgeous. I cannot wait to put a photo in it. And again, there are plenty of different items that you are able to create. In this week's road trip. We are taking you to a historic cemetery in our borough that's been around since before. Any of us were even born. News Twelve's Lie. Mario dives into some of the historic tombstones at the Woodlawn Cemetery and explains why it's such a unique location here in our borough. The 400 acre Woodlawn Conservancy was established in 1863 each and every turn tells a unique story. We have such wonderful gilded age architecture. We have wonderful Harlem Renaissance notables that are buried here, incredible jazz musicians such as Duke Ellington and Miles Davis. Some other notable figures laid to rest here also include salsa legend, Celia Cruz and former New York City mayor, Fiorello La Guardia. And what's very interesting about his gravestone is that it says Fiorello La Guardia, humanitarian, statesman, but it does not say mayor some even date back to the revolutionary war. We have over 8600 veterans buried here and our veterans date back to revolutionary war veterans. So it's really amazing the rich history we have here at Woodlawn, a historic piece of land right here in the boogie down at Woodlawn Cemetery, Eli Murillo News 12.
