A teenage girl was allegedly attacked by a registered sexual offender last week, and now the victim?s mother is searching for justice.
Police believe Roland Riddick was the man who groped the 16-year-old victim last Friday. According to Family Watchdog, Riddick?s rap sheet includes third-degree rape and sodomy with a 16-year-old in 2000.
The victim?s mother, whose identity has not been disclosed for her protection, says her daughter was walking back from school at 3:30 p.m. She says the teen was walking up the stairs when the man appeared and grabbed her. According to the victim?s mother, her daughter got nervous and tried to break away. The victim eventually did break free, but not before she was groped.
Once the victim was free, she ran to the building?s super for help, the mother says. She re-entered the building when she thought it was safe, and Riddick allegedly entered behind her. The victim?s mother says Riddick then ran off when a neighbor came out of his apartment and scared him.
The victim?s mother is grateful nothing worse happened to her daughter, but she still wants justice to be served. ?Thank God it wasn?t my daughter, but it could be someone else?s child next,? she says.
Police and the victim?s family are asking for help in finding the suspect. They are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
The family is offering a $1,000 cash reward for anyone who finds the suspect.
