Yorktown Town Supervisor Thomas Diana urged residents to keep safe and be prepared for Sunday's the heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

Diana posted the video message on Facebook.

"Please stay off the roads, if possible, stay away from any downed wires, stay away from swift running water," Diana said. "If you're going through a flooded area, you don't know if the road is washed out underneath it. Turn around, don't go through it, don't drown in that water. I've seen it in the past week with the unprecedented amount of rain that we have had."

Diana also advised residents to have their generators ready in case of power outages.
