Yorktown Supervisor Ed Lachterman says officials are working to keep residents safe as the remnants of Debby brings stormy weather to the area.

Lachterman told News 12 that the town began preparing earlier in the week.

Officials held a municipal conference call with NYSEG on Thursday and another with Con Edison on Friday.

Authorities say crews will be monitoring road conditions. However, identifying vulnerable areas may be challenging.

“It’s a little hard to plan for where the wind's going to hit, where the rain is going to hit and what damage it's going to do,” said Lachterman.
