A Yorktown man is suing reality TV star Kim Kardashian after she mistakenly identified him as a Texas death row inmate in an Instagram post, according to a civil complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Ivan Cantu's attorneys say Kardashian used his photo as part of her criminal justice reform advocacy, but the mix-up has caused significant harm.
The lawsuit claims libel and slander, alleging injury to Cantu's reputation and profession, as well as severe emotional distress and anguish.
Kardashian's lawyer called it a "simple mistake," noting the image was removed almost immediately after the error was discovered.
