A Yorktown High School student was arrested Tuesday for allegedly making a false bomb threat that disrupted classes. Police received the call around 9:45 a.m. School security officials sealed off the campus after ushering students and staff to a football field behind the school as police scoured the building. Authorities say no bomb was found.

Police traced the call to 17-year-old Scott Baia, who was arrested and charged with making a false bomb threat. Authorities have not determined a motive behind the hoax, but add that the student mentioned something about a bet.

Authorities call the arrest a textbook example of how schools should utilize their resources. "There are enhanced phone systems in these schools and they work very closely with our police department," said Yorktown Police Lt. Robert Noble. "We have an excellent working relationship."

The incident was over in about 45 minutes and students were allowed back inside the school. It's the latest of several school bomb threats that have resulted in students being arrested.
