The family of a Yorktown native killed while away at college is thanking the community for the support they have received following her death.

Eighteen-year-old Sheridan Gorman was shot and killed last month in Chicago.

In a statement, her family said they are grateful for the tributes, donations and memorials made in her honor.

They said the outpouring of support shows just how many lives Sheridan touched.
