A 52-year-old Yonkers woman was killed after she was hit by a taxi cab and then run over by a passing van Tuesday night.
Police say Elzbieta Kurzya was walking across the Bronx River Parkway overpass that connects Mount Vernon and Yonkers. Kurzya was taken to Mount Vernon Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Many say walking through the area from the nearby train station is difficult because the area is not well lit.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the cab or the van, however, police are still investigating the accident.
