The Trump administration announced an end to the program earlier this week. Its full name is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals -- an Obama-era plan to spare undocumented immigrants from deportation if they were brought to the United States as children.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vowed to sue the federal government over the program's cancellation. More than 40,000 New Yorkers identify as "dreamers," a term used to describe DACA beneficiaries.
President Donald Trump, after cancelling the program, urged Congress to pass an immigration reform bill within six months. He also said he might reconsider the DACA repeal if Congress fails to act.
