It's almost time to head back to school, and the Yonkers school district is helping teachers get ready.
Tuesday was the first of three days for Yonkers Public Schools training.
The program for new teacher to the district is called VISIONS.
Superintendent of the Yonkers School District Dr. Edwin Quezada says after two years of COVID, it's time to reimagine the educational system.
He says the district does mirror the national teacher shortage, but they are ready to tackle the year with these educators.
More than 100 new teachers are ready to take on the 40 schools in the district, despite a shortage of teachers in certain areas such as foreign languages.
Yonkers Public Schools will begin for students on Sept. 6.
