The Yonkers school district was subpoenaed by the city's inspector general Monday to release documents in an investigation into $65 million spent on health care and benefits.

The Yonkers school superintendent was expected to show the city inspector general documents reviewing $65 million in school district health insurance payments and union benefits. However, the district says it cannot legally give up the documents.

The subpoena and deadline were set for Monday.

The school board says taxpayers? money is being wasted over the battle because three audits are currently under way. The inspector general has conducted audits in the district for over a decade.
