At St. John's cemetery Saturday afternoon, members of the community and Yonkers historians gathered to hold a special "Roll Call of Honor" to remember patriots who served in the Revolutionary War.

It included speeches that discussed the war and a guided tour through St. John’s Cemetery by Yonkers Historical Society Trustee John McMenimon.

The cemetery grounds are the final resting place to about 20 patriots and three others who had ties to the war.

The event also highlighted a mass burial site and the unnamed soldiers that contain it.

The Roll Call of Honor is just one event Yonkers is holding as the nation nears the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
