A Hollywood legend was honored in Yonkers Tuesday with a street naming ceremony.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano named a portion of Westchester Avenue Art Carney Place in honor of the late actor who was known for his role as Ed Norton in 'The Honeymooners.'
Carney was born and raised in Mount Vernon, but called Yonkers home for nearly two decades.
Carney's son Brian says his dad lived a simple life on Westchester Avenue. He says Yonkers was the perfect place for him.
"We would do most of our shopping in Bronxville, going to the delicatessen," says Brian Carney. "He loved Tuckahoe. Danny's Deli was a place he loved to go get fresh packed Breyer's Ice Cream."
A portion of Westchester Avenue is now called Art Carney Place. The city also designated this day as Art Carney Day.
