A solemn ceremony was held in Yonkers today to remember the soldiers who never came home.
The city hosted a moving tribute at the Washington Park Veterans Memorial on South Broadway.
"We've forgotten where we've been and our children have to know what a veteran is and what Memorial Day really is," says Lou Navarro, director of veterans affairs in Yonkers.
Mayor Mike Spano says that every salute and every wreath is a reminder of the true meaning of Memorial Day.
"Even though some may not know anyone personally who served and never came home, there is a sense of pride here for those who made the ultimate sacrifice," says Spano.
