Yonkers Public Schools are looking to build new elementary schools to ease overcrowding.
The district is looking at the old Mulford Gardens site near Ashburton Avenue. The new school could house up to 750 students.
An environmental review must first be done and the district must also come up with a plan for funding.
More than likely, the city would have to bond for the money. Superintendent Michael Yazurlo also wants the state to increase its building aid to the city.
The district is currently renting former Catholic school buildings to help with the overcrowding problem.
