The Yonkers Police Department has started a program to build more trust between the city's youth and its officers.
City officials also partnered with students and police in the Youth Police Coalition.
"We want to hear some of the concerns that they have, so we can talk about it, break down some of the misunderstandings, some of the barriers," says Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner.
The Youth Police Coalition's first meeting is scheduled for January.
