Some big promotions took place at the Yonkers Police Department.

Six new members and their families were welcomed and celebrated at the department's hiring and promotion ceremony at City Hall.

The new members have gone through a competitive process as prior-service probationary police officers.

Nearly a dozen members of the department have also been promoted to lieutenant, sergeant and detective.

The probationary police officers were scheduled to attend field training before they are assigned to their patrol commands in the next month.
