The Fourth of July is just around the corner and police in Yonkers busted two men who they say were involved in the sale and purchase of illegal fireworks.
Police set up surveillance on Larrimore Road Friday when they observed a vehicle pull up and two men began loading fireworks from a home into the car. Police arrested 31-year-old Christopher Heinrich and 34-year-old Fred Basli, both of Yonkers. According to police, it was Heinrich who was allegedly selling fireworks with a street value of $100,000 from the basement of his home.
More than 100 cases of fireworks were recovered and brought to the Yonkers Police Department impound. Police hope the bust will send a message to anyone buying or selling fireworks.
