A new playground in Yonkers' Schulze Park has been dedicated to the memory of Annie McMahon and Allie Sullivan, two young women from Crestwood who passed away within two weeks of each other in 2019.
Described as beloved members of the community, McMahon and Sullivan's legacy lives on through "Allie and Annie's Playground," which features new basketball courts, safety surfaces, shaded areas and upgrades to the site.
The project, costing over $1 million, was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Crestwood community and the Yonkers Parks & Recreation Department.
"The Crestwood community came together, raised funds, and supplemented our budget, putting the park over the top," said Steve Sansone, Yonkers Parks & Recreation Commissioner.
