Yonkers police officers traded in their uniforms for barbecue tongs Wednesday as they cooked up a good time at the 37th annual Handicapped Picnic.
The picnic, sponsored by the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association, was held at Redmond Field.
The event featured grilled hot dogs and burgers, music, temporary tattoos and the chance to sit on an actual police motorcycle and sound the siren.
Organizers say the event sprang from humble beginnings, hosting about 25 people in its first year, to the more than 400 people who attended Wednesday's event.
The attendees came from Camp Pride and other special needs groups throughout the city.
