The attempted kidnapping of a Yonkers boy has neighbors on edge Sunday, despite police having a suspect in custody.
Neighbors say a man with either long, blond hair or a blond wig approached a 12-year-old boy Saturday on Middleboro Drive near Stockbridge Road. They say the stranger tried to grab the boy, who managed to get his parents' attention. Yonkers police confirm they arrested a man less than a mile from the scene after they arrived. The suspect, whose name has not been released, is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
Residents say the situation saddens them, but they're glad the boy got away unharmed. Many neighbors say it's a shame that children can't play in the street the way past generations did.
