Yonkers officials say they have had enough of the violence amid a rash of shootings in the city.
The latest incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of a Burger King on Central Avenue. The shooting left well-known pitcher Michael Nolan hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in the head and arm.
That shooting marked the fourth in the city in a week.
Detective Keith Olson, president of the Yonkers PBA, says that on any given night, there are only 40 officers on the street during the midnight shift - a number that he says is far too low.
Mayor Mike Spano is asking residents to support police and work with them to preserve safety in the streets.
