Neighbors along Manning Avenue in Yonkers are calling on the state to upgrade a small exit that often gets missed on the Saw Mill River Parkway.
Jimmy Waldron lives in the first house off the exit on Manning Avenue. He says his safety is constantly in jeopardy due to drivers who overlook the exit.
“Somebody's going to get killed, there's no doubt in my mind,” he told News 12.
He says that drivers who miss the exit sometimes end up on the grass and crashing into a nearby fence.
Neighbors along Manning Avenue say the 10-mph speed limit on the exit is usually ignored. They are calling for safety measures that could include a barrier, rumble strips, flashing lights or a guard rail.
Waldron has been working with Councilman Anthony Merante (District 6) who is calling on the state Department of Transportation to upgrade the exit.
