With the Republican Convention only a day away, the mayor of New York?s fourth largest city let the public know his choice for governor.
Mayor Phil Amicone is backing former state Assembly Minority Leader John Faso and his running mate, Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef for the gubernatorial ticket. The duo?s final campaign stop was the Yonkers City Pier Tuesday, one day before the Republican Convention kicks off on Long Island. Amicone says his endorsement for governor was important because the race is so critical to the state right now.
Faso isn?t the only Republican vying for the GOP nod. Former Massachusetts Governor William Weld's name will also be put before delegates. Weld is hoping to gather enough support at the convention to force a September primary. However, Faso has locked in support from two important counties, Erie and Westchester.
