A Yonkers man says he's lucky to be alive after suffering a heart attack, and he has the four-man crew of Yonkers Engine 313 to thank for their lifesaving actions.
Last month, Mike Cipullo suffered a massive heart attack inside the Irish Mini-Market on McLean Avenue. The crew of Engine 313 was on a nearby run when the found Cipullo lying on the floor in the deli.
The crew checked for a pulse, and had to immediately start CPR. The firefighters had to use the Lucas CPR device that continued compressions on Cipullo until he arrived at the hospital.
"They're the best in the world and they should be proud for what they do," says Cipullo.
Without the quick response of the firefighters, Cipullo says he would have never made it to his 52nd birthday, which was just this week. "I love life now," he adds. "I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. No more."
