A Yonkers man is behind bars and facing murder charges in connection with the death of a man whose body was found dumped in Ossining.
Police say Joaquin Recinos-Garcia shot and stabbed 62-year-old Luis Blanco, of Yonkers, numerous times in Yonkers on Aug. 20. He then allegedly left Blanco's body on the side of Route 133 near Tavano Road in Ossining. A jogger found Blanco's body four days later.
Recinos-Garcia, a 27-year-old mechanic in Yonkers, was arrested Friday night and arraigned Saturday. He has been charged with second-degree murder and was ordered held without bail at the Westchester County Jail.
Authorities say the two men were acquaintances and that Blanco loaned Recinos-Garcia about $1,300. They say that instead of paying the debt, the suspect decided to rob and murder Blanco.
Police attribute the victim's friends with leading them to Recinos-Garcia. They say there was also surveillance video of the two men on the night of the incident.
