People gathered for Yonkers Clean-Up Day at the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail on Saturday to kick off Earth Week.
Volunteers spent the day picking up trash along the trail.
News 12 asked some participants, Michael Pineda, why it was important for them to get involved.
"Well, I've lived in Yonkers my whole life and I really want to see my community clean," Pineda said. "This trail is an important part for the city. It's a cut through for a lot of people and we need to keep it clean and safe."
People wore protective gear and used outdoor tools to collect litter like glass, plastic, and even some furniture that was left along the trail.
