A section of Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers is one step closer to bearing the name of a local hero.
The city council has passed a resolution to support a bill to name an overpass the "Detective Sergeant Frank Gauldino Memorial Bridge."
Gauldino, a 24-year veteran of the Yonkers Police Department, was tragically killed in the line of duty in December 2022. A 16-year-old driver with a learner's permit crashed head-on with Gauldino's patrol car, resulting in his death.
Supporters argue that the bridge would serve as a poignant reminder of the dedication and sacrifice of law enforcement officers.
The bill is currently under Senate committee review before going for a vote.
