Local florists worked on Saturday to keep up with the high demand and last-minute orders that came ahead of Mother's Day.
The holiday was more than just flowers — it was about meaningful gestures at Blossom Flower Shop in Yonkers.
The shop, which has been in business for more than a century, is now run by Sandra Brennan, who said preparation for the holiday starts early. On one of the busiest days leading up to Mother’s Day, her team began work before sunrise to ensure deliveries and in-store orders were ready.
Despite rising costs across many industries, Brennan said the impact on flowers has been manageable. Customers who visited the shop echoed a similar sentiment, noting that while prices have risen in general, there were still affordable options available.
Yonkers resident Aidan Kelly said even with higher costs, Mother’s Day remains a priority.
“Everything’s getting more expensive these days, but you can’t put a price on a mother,” Kelly said.
Blossom Flower Shop expected a steady stream of customers through Mother’s Day weekend, as families looked for ways to celebrate the mothers and caregivers in their lives.
