The mother of a 27-year-old Yonkers woman who perished in a fire at a condemned home says her daughter was trying to turn her life around.Officials say Natisha Snead was trapped on the second floor of the Vineyard Avenue home during the fire. Her 53-year-old boyfriend John Breeden died after running back into the burning home to save her life. Breeden?s brother escaped the fire uninjured.
Snead?s mother, Pamela Twyne, says she never met Breeden, but believes he was trying to help her get out of a life of drugs. Twyne says her daughter was about five months pregnant. Snead was also the mother of two young children which Twyne has been raising.
The house did not have electricity and was not supposed to be inhabited. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, but say they discovered many candles inside.
