The Yonkers Fire Department is getting a lifesaving upgrade – thermal imaging cameras.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano on Friday announced that all firefighters will soon be equipped with state-of-the-art device.

The cameras help rapid response time and give first responders the ability to see through darkness and smoke.

Officials added the devices can be utilized in any type of rescue.
